The DS Open Innovation Hackathon is a National open entry. Our goal is to prepare now for the next Nigeria Economic Meltdown (NEMD) monster by building the Nigeria Innovation Army (NIA) with pronounced capabilities to respond and engage future environmental, poverty, population, education, health crisis, disasters, and large scale emergencies.
This multi-dimensional techno-centric Innovation Framework will become a dependable knowledge reservoir with capabilities to timely curtail and effectively respond to future crisis, and national challenges that may appear in a monumental scale.


There will be 2 Rounds of Selection (Regional and State Finals)
ROUND ONE: Regional Team…………………….. Assumed Total Entry: 300 Teams (Expected)
ROUND TWO: State Team……Short listed to………100 Teams (Eligible to Shoot @ Hackathon)
ROUND THREE (Finals)………………………………………50 Teams (Shortlist Selected to Pitch)

Delta State Open Innovation Hackathon is modelled in the spirit of SDGs.
We have adopted the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals as the bedrock for the DS-IHUB Open Hackathon 2016. Our goal is to inspire the Youth to infuse Innovation as a significant component for building and sustaining their future.

Objective: Why “Delta State Open Innovation Hackathon”?

We aspire to make an innovative difference and positively disrupt the ICT Ecosystem.
According to ‘The Creative Commons’ the Hacker Ethic revolves around the principle that information should be free (as in speech).  And by extension, that people should have the freedom to apply everyday Techno-devices in new and unexpected ways’.                      

Responding to the Challenges of Sustainable Development Goals, Through Hackathon

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), officially known as ‘Transforming our World’. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of seventeen aspirations "global Goals" with 169 targets


PHASE 1 – DECEMBER 1, 2016.
001 08:00 - 11:00 am Registration Contestants arrives DS-IHUB, registration of contestants takes place
002 11:00 - 11:15 am Hackathon Executive Brief Introduction Idea Pitch Challenges Approach Solutions Facilitators, Room Managers and Business Model Developers will introduce themselves; contestants will do same to create familiarity and a relaxed environment.
003 11:15 - 11:45 am Hackathon Guide Facilitators et al will give the scope of development, rules, procedure and general information.
004 11:45 - 1:00 pm Formation/registration of Teams; Contestants’ network and form teams to create a solution on the brief given, the teams are then registered.;
005 1:00 - 2:00 pm Team Brainstorming and Networking Contestants’ come up with design and solution to the concept, identify the functionality of the solution then liaise with Business Model Developers for a complete solution that is market ready.
006 8:00 -- 12:00pm 12.00pm-4am The Hackathon Shortlist Pre- Final Selections Design, Documentation, Coding by contestants, mentoring by facilitators/managers, sessions with Business Model Developers. Hackathon Management Experts

007 1:00 -2:00pm Mock Project Presentation/Pitch to the faculty
PHASE 4 – DECEMBER 3, 2016.
008 5:00 - 8:00pm Judging Project Presentation to the panel of judges and announcement of winners
